5 Common Vegetable Growing Mistakes

1. Using pots that are too small: The most limiting factor in balcony vegetable growing. A tomato plant in a 6-inch pot is permanently stunted. Invest in proper 10–12 inch grow bags — the yield difference is dramatic.

2. Sowing tomatoes in summer: Tomatoes are cool-weather fruiting crops. Sown in May or June in North India, they will grow vegetatively but fail to fruit because temperatures above 35°C cause flower drop. Always sow October–November for December–March fruiting.
